Links with the West It is known that no written proof about anything in the Saraswati Civilization is available. Still with the archeological evidences it can definitely be stated that there were links between Sindhu civilization and those of Sumer and Mesopotamia. All these civilizations have common link as regards the developed city life, use of potter’s wheel, vessels of copper and bronze, kiln-burnt bricks, pictorial writing etc.The seals of the Sindhu pattern have been discovered in Elam and Mesopotamia also. There was a flourishing trade between Indus valley and Sumer in these times. It
was partly through land from Baluchistan and partly by sea route. Though Bharatiya things have been found in Elam etc,no record of any importation in Bharat is still found. The method of hair-dressing of Bharatiya women was adopted by the Sumerians. Sir John Marshall had detected the possibility of India proving ultimately to be the cradle of the Sumerian and later civilizations in the West.

The Greeks and Babylonians called the cotton by the name of Sindhum or Sindhu, which points out its association with the Saraswati Civilization. Some Sumerian myths suggest the name Dilbun to the Saraswati Civilization. The Sumerian myths say how gods send floods to destroy the mankind except the one named Ziusudra, who was transferred to the land called Dilbun, which was described as the land of the rising sun.As the Sindhu was the only inhabited land in the east, at that time, Dilbun could be no other land than the Indus valley.
