In Medieval Bharata, trends related to the ancient literature continued. Kavyamimamsa written by Rajshekhara(880-92 AD). Dhvanyalokalochana by Abhinavagupta ( 10-11Century AD) are some of the works on poetics.

KavyaPrakash of Mammata (11th century AD). Sarasvatikanthabharana by Bhoja is Ornament of the Neck of Sarasvati. In the 12th century AD, Rudrabhatta wrote Shringatilak. It is a work a collection of erotic stanzas and a manual of poetics at the same time, Dasharupa is the treatise on the ten kinds of Drama by Dhananjaya(974-979AD) In 1300-1380AD).

Visvanatha Kaviraja wrote Sahityadarpana ( Mirror of composition). It treats in detail a range of poetics and dramaturgy. In 18th century Devashankara wrote Alamkaramanjusha. In this he deals with Alankara only. The examples cited are description of glory of Peshavas Madhavarao I. (1761-1768AD) Jayaram Pinde, Jagganath Pandit, Sarfoji, Bhushan, Bihari, Jayadev, Gathasaptashati etc.
